1. Do I Need an Appointment?
Yes, VSV accepts routine referrals by appointment only.
Appointments are available from 9am to 6pm Monday
thru Friday and most Saturdays.
2. What Should I do if My Pet has an Emergency
Medical Problem?
If your pet is experiencing a serious medical
emergency, call your family veterinarian for
instructions. If you cannot reach him/her, bring
your pet immediately to VSV. Doctors are always
on premises for emergency care.
3. What Should I Bring to the Appointment?
Please bring your pet and someone familiar with his or
her medical history. Bring a complete set of your pet's
medical records, including laboratory test results,
original x-rays and ultrasounds performed by your
family veterinarian. Bring all of your pet's current
medications and nutritional supplements in their
original, labeled bottles.
4. What Should I Expect During My First Visit?
During your pet's initial visit, you will meet one of our
doctors who will take a detailed medical history and
perform a comprehensive physical examination. The
doctor will review your pet's previous records along
with his or her findings, and discuss a treatment plan
with you.
5. Will My Pet Need to Stay at VSV?
Most diagnostic tests can be completed within a few
hours of your appointment. Others involving sedation
or anesthesia may require your pet to stay overnight. If
your pet is very ill, or needs surgery, he or she may
require hospitalization in our 24 hour intensive care unit.
6. Is My Pet Alone at Night and Can I Visit?
Our 24 hour intensive care unit is staffed by doctors and
nurses around the clock to provide continuous care for
your pet. We encourage visiting while your pet is in our
care. Please call to let us know when you'd like to come.
7. Will I Receive an Estimate?
After the doctor has finished examining your pet
and has outlined a plan with you, a detailed estimate
will be presented. If your pet is to be hospitalized you
will be updated regularly on your pet's bill. Feel free to
ask us for an update at any time. A deposit will be
required prior to the start of treatment. |
