Gastrointestinal Emergencies

The gastrointestinal system includes all of the organs associated with eating and digestion: the mouth, esophagus and stomach, as well as the small and large intestines.

Because of the involved anatomy, symptoms of GI emergencies include abdominal discomfort, vomiting, diarrhea, and refusal to eat normal food.  Common causes of GI problems include infections, obstructions with foreign material, stomach dilation & stomach torsion (bloat).If your pet is experiencing a gastrointestinal problem, call immediately.
